(Hybrid Position)

JBCI is seeking a Staff/Project Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of structural and/or architectural engineering principles and an interest in repair or restoration of existing structures.  The position requires the ability to perform field surveys at height; excellent writing skills; working knowledge of AutoCAD, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and exciting consulting environment. The position is hybrid and based in JBCI’s Philadelphia office with travel in the PA/NJ/DE area required.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Position Job Title: Staff/Project Engineer

Position Type/Classification: Full-Time / Exempt

Reporting To: Project/Sr. Project Manager

 

The Project Engineer’s primary responsiblity is to support projects under the direction of Project Managers.  Duties include surveying, inspections, design, drafting, client relations, and construction administration services.

All work will be performed under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.

 

Essential Functions:

Develop contract drawings using AutoCAD.

Develop project specifications.

Perform engineering analysis and design by hand and utilizing available software

Perform field investigations and research to collect data; develop conclusions and present to Project Managers and supervisors

Write technical reports, field reports, and meeting minutes.

Direct interaction with Client and Contractors.

Make site visits to observe and document in-situ conditions and construction activity.

Assist in other construction administration services.

Assist in quantity takeoffs and developing probable construction costs.

Other duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities Include:

Accept training from senior staff, safety professionals, and industry experts.

Complete safety trainings chosen by the company.

Assist senior staff with preparation of technical reports and specifications.

Work at height via fixed and suspended scaffolding, articulating boom lift, and other access equipment.

Attend ocmpany wide and team meetings.

Attend project design and construction meetings

Make site visits to observe in-situ conditions and construction progress.

Complete small projects with minimal supervision

 

Travel:

Up to 50% of local travel during normal work hours expected for the position. Very infrequent overnight travel required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (or a related field to be reviewed by the hiring committee) from an ABET accredited college or university.

0-2+ years’ relevant experience

Engineering in Training certification.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience with building façade restoration, or in forensic engineering.

Structural Engineering emphasis in Bachelor’s degree program.

Relevant internship or co-op in related engineering or construction fields.

Strong interest in structural and facade engineering.

Involvement in relevant industry associations.
