Project Manager

JBCI is seeking a Project Manager to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of building envelopes and restoration work.  The position requires a demonstrated ability to coordinate and conduct field surveys at height; excellent writing skills; working knowledge of AutoCAD, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and exciting consulting environment. The position will be based in JBCI’s Philadelphia office with travel in the PA/NJ/DE area required.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Position Job TitleProject Manager

Position Type/Classification: Full-Time / Exempt

Reporting To: Principal

 

The Project Manager will be responsible for the general oversight of both assigned and secured projects. The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating projects and performing necessary tasks required for successful completion, within budget and on schedule. The Project Manager will manage the project team for each project, which may include Staff Engineers and/or Project Engineers. The Project Manager will interface directly with the Client.

 

Essential Functions:

Manage multiple moderate sized projects simultaneously.

Develop and execute plan for successful completion of assigned projects.

Assign appropriate tasks to project team for each managed project.

Interface directly with client throughout project duration.

Develop contract drawings using AutoCAD.

Develop project specifications.

Perform engineering analysis and design by hand and utilizing available software.

Perform field investigations and research to develop conclusions.

Write technical reports, field reports, and meeting minutes.

Make site visits to observe and document in-situ conditions and construction activity.

Prepare proposals and seeks new business.

Other duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities Include:

Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Leads project meetings and makes presentations.

Act as primary client point of contact for assigned projects.

Mentor Staff and Project Engineers.

Review work prepared by Staff and Project Engineers.

Participate in onboarding process for newly hired Engineers.

Represent JBCI at industry associations and events.

 

Travel:

Up to 50% of local travel during normal work hours expected for the position. Occasional overnight travel required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (or a related field to be reviewed by the hiring committee) from an ABET accredited college or university.

4+ years’ relevant experience

Engineering in Training certification.

Completion of Engineering Management seminars.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience with building façade restoration, or in forensic engineering.

Professional Engineering License.

Master’s Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering.

Active involvement in relevant industry associations.

Engineering Management Courses.
